June 4, 2006 WINSTON SALEM NC 600/1200 WSJS, The Piedmonts Triad's News Talk leader, announced it will begin airing a weekly hunting and fishing outdoor talk show on Saturday June, 9 from 5am until 6am. Station manager Tom Hamilton says its the first show of its kind in the Triad and one that's long overdue. "It's no secret there's a large number of sportsmen who are out and about that time of day and this is the perfect show to reach them. Fortunately we found the right guys to do it."
The new show (name for the show has yet to be determined- listen daily to WSJS for your chance to name the show and win!) will be hosted by Mike Helsabeck, NC Duck's Unlimited's 2007 Artist if the Year; Tim Bloodworth, the promotion manager for Bass Pro Shops and Kasey, an attractive huntress and outdoors enthusiast. Helsabeck says the show will consist of outdoor news, celebrity guests, hot topics, call ins and some good old outdoor fun. "The one thing most sportsmen have in common is a good sense of humor. When you freeze your hiney off in a deer stand, duck blind or bass boat, you have to be able to laugh a little."
Call of the Outdoors will air every Saturday from 5am- 6am on 600 WSJS and 1200 WSML.
