Helsabeck Paints Image for NBC Hap Dumont World Series Poster - 6/29/2007

Helsabeck Paints Image for NBC Hap Dumont World Series Poster

To commemorate the first time tournament to Lexington, local artist, Mike Helsabeck has lent his talents to create an image for the poster that highlights both the barbecue and the baseball.

The poster features a pig, much like those on display from the “Pigs in the City” program promoted by Uptown Lexington.  The pig on the poster is dressed in a baseball uniform which adorns the NBC logo on the jersey sleeve and the NBC lettering on the baseball cap.  The poster also lists the date and field locations for the tournament.  The area surrounding the pig is blank making it perfect for team member signatures.  When asked about the concept for the poster, Helsabeck said “When I drive through town and see all those pigs, I just think it’s great for the area.  So I just thought this would be a fun idea for linking barbecue and baseball together.”

As an added bonus, Donnie Richardson, the North Carolina director for the National Baseball Congress, who is a team owner of a NASCAR Busch Race Car, has put the poster image on the hood of a race car which will be running in an upcoming race in New Hampshire. The car will be on display at The Mike Helsabeck Collection in the Shoppes at Vineyards Crossing in Lexington on Tuesday June 26th from noon until 6 pm.

The National Baseball Congress Hap Dumont Little League World Series will bring up to 48 teams along with family and friends to the Lexington area.  Games will be played in Lexington’s Holt Moffitt Stadium, in fields at area schools, Central Davidson, West Davidson, South Davidson and Ledford as well as Thomasville’s Finch Field.
